UK homeowners 'considering eco-features on property'

A new survey by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P) has found more homeowners are likely to install energy efficient features in their homes this year.

It found that 69 per cent of people are more interested in eco-features than they were 12 months ago.

The research, done to mark N&P's eco Self-Build competition, also found that 87 per cent of people would incorporate green features if they were to have a home built to "their individual requirements".

Chris Holey, judge in the Self-Build competition, said it was "great to see that more people are considering making their homes more energy efficient".

"It is important that everyone does what they can to reduce their impact upon the environment," he added.

Research by Halifax has found the location of a property could add an average of £20,000 to the price of a home, with "proximity to the countryside" found to be the most important factor for 23 per cent of people in the UK.
